Are You Prepared for Life’s Uncertainties?

Collectively, life has thrown a lot of uncertainty at lately and everyone can benefit from a personal inventory:

  • Do you worry about your account being breached?
  • Are you ready to take care of a parent?
  • Do you know the risks of entering a new relationship after being married?
  • Are you prepared for an unforeseen medical event or sudden loss of capacity?
  • Do you worry about your identity being stolen?
  • Will you have enough money to retire?

These are just some of the life risk events that you might be faced with during your lifetime. Some of these are certain; many more are uncertain but require the same level of preparation.  Faer Risk Consulting, LLC can develop a comprehensive assessment of our client’s preparedness and works with them to develop an action plan.

Recently, there was an increase in fraudulent unemployment claims filed in several states, including Massachusetts.  To help clients manage the risks of identity theft and potential account breaches, the firm generally recommended the following steps be considered:

  • Submit security or credit freezes with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion to prevent credit from being established in your name by others.
  • Establish two-factor authentication on bank and investment accounts to decrease the likelihood of accounts being compromised by fraudsters.
  • Maintain a level of diligence in reviewing credit, banking and financial account activity.
  • Properly manage your online profile so as to safeguard your information.

We also coach clients on how to identify risks, understand how one risk impacts another and choose a course of action that makes the most sense.  The goal of the practice is to teach individuals how to better manage risk.  The service is complementary to services provided by other professionals including insurance agents, accountants, attorneys and investment advisors; the Concierge Personal Risk Manager works as part of the team supporting the client. The “concierge” describes the firm’s availability to assist the client in the execution of the plan, identify emerging risks and manage risks holistically on an on-going basis.
